FIDE rated players may play in the Major if they are rated below 2000 irrespective of ECF grade.

Players without a FIDE rating can play in the Major if they have an ECF grade below 170.

It is anticipated that entries will be sufficient to increase the above prize fund particularly with additional grading prizes.

ENTER ONLINE HERE or DOWNLOAD ENTRY FORM

Members of the ECF may elect to receive a £2 discount. Please quote your membership number.

Players born after 31/8/1993 or before 1/9/1944 may claim a £3 discount off of their entry fee.

A late entry fee of £5 will be payable on entries postmarked later than Monday 24th May 2009.  Entries on the day will be accepted at the organisers discretion and subject to a £10 additional fee.

Players in the FIDE rated sections (Open and Major) must be members of their National Federation.

No player may win more than one prize.

It's not practical for a weekend event such as Sunningdale to have an Opening Ceremony with the drawing of lots for colours, but we do believe that all players should be able to see that the draw for colours is fair, transparent and random. For those of you who have played in one of our events before, you will know that we like to be inventive when it comes to doing this.

In the week preceding the tournament, we will announce a sporting event whose outcome will determine colours at our congress!

Playing Schedule
Opening Ceremony Friday 18.50 - 19.00
Round 1 Friday 19.00 - 23.00

Round 5 Sunday 15.00 - 19.00

Grades & Ratings

Ratings from the May 2010 FIDE list will be used for the Open & Major, whilst grades published in the August 2009 ECF list will be used for the Minor.

The Open and Major will be FIDE rated and ECF graded, whilst the Minor will be ECF graded.

Time Control

Open & Major : All moves in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move increments from move 1

Minor : 40 moves in 100 minutes (1hr 40) then an additional 20 minutes to complete the game.

Re-pairing may take place 30 minutes after the start of a round.

Ungraded Players

Players without a grade in the 2009 ECF list must give details of estimated playing strength, including any previously held grading, or current grading from another body.  Ungraded players may not win a grading prize and, with the exception of the Open may only win 50% of any other prize.  Unrated players in the Open may not win a rating prize (unless one is specifically added for unrated players).

Defaults

Notwithstanding the fact that players may be re-paired 30 minutes after the start of the round the default time for all sections will be 1 hour from the scheduled start of the round.

 Pairings

In all sections pairings will be according to FIDE rules.

As this event is to be played over 7 rounds there will be no acceleration of pairings.
